So Long BYU...

Although I don’t get my diploma till August, today was my last official class at BYU! I can’t believe I made it and what better way to end the semester than with my New Testament class. There were nights, especially during finals weeks, when I was ready to throw in the towel. It wasn’t easy... but boy was it rewarding.

So in honor of me completing my schooling I figured I would reminisce on some of the things I liked and disliked about BYU.

Things I will miss at BYU:

  • My friends- I have made some awesome friends while at school. I even found my best friend, Austin :D Luckily he is always going to be there with me throughout life but I don’t know what I am going to do once we move to Arizona and I don’t have any girl friends!
  • Religion classes- I must say, one of my favorite things about BYU was the religion classes. I have been pretty fortunate to have some awesome professors along the way who have taught me so much, and helped my knowledge & testimony of the gospel grow.
  • Security- Everyone always calls Provo “The Bubble” and it is so true! There is a sense of security that comes with being in Mormonville and knowing people have the same standards as you. Also the security of knowing what comes next. Now that I’m done with school I have to get a real job... yuck... and who knows what that will be.
  • Advertising Classes- I am so grateful I found this major. It has been something I actually enjoy doing and studying. For a while I was afraid I would never find a major at BYU and my back-up plan was dropping out and going to hair school. Well my prayers were answered and now I get to take my knowledge and apply it in the real world!

Things I won’t miss at BYU:

  • Crazy Mormons- Yes it is cool being surrounded by Mormons, until you come to realize how crazy some of those Mormons can be. I definitely feel BYU was a good transition from high school but honestly... I hope I never have to live in Provo or Utah again haha Dance parties, Group FHE, Those awkward kids who ask you out during class... good riddance.
  • GE’s- Humanities.... I hate you haha The fact that I will never have to take a dumb, pointless general ed class again makes me want to jump for joy!
  • The Cannon Center- Ok I know I have been done with the Cannon Center for a while now but that place scarred me for life! I will never look at Chicken Cordon Blue the same way.
  • Snow- So snow doesn’t really have anything to do with BYU but I take every chance I get to bring up the fact that I hate the snow. Walking to class while the snow freezes the inside your nose, trying not to fall on your butt in the middle of campus, having your shoes and socks soaked through... yeah I hate the snow.

The list could go on and on but I will end it here. So long BYU... you will be missed, but only a little ;D

Bridals

After fighting the Utah weather Austin & I were determined to get our bridals taken so we went up to the State Capitol and shot some great photos together. Here are some of our favorites :D

A Week With Mom

Wow. If this is what life is going to be like until the wedding, then I better get use to my head spinning 24/7.

On Tuesday my mom flew in for the week. I was so excited to have her come help with all the final wedding touches. Austin & I were scheduled to take bridals that day but as luck would have it, a nasty dust storm blew in causing a haze to set over the Utah Valley... so we rescheduled our pictures. Instead I spent the day running around Salt Lake City trying to find one more bridesmaid dress, shoes for the bridesmaids and get the key to my cousins house. Let me just say, the shoes we found are amazing! I want to own a pair myself... guess I will just have to steal my sisters once the wedding is over ;D

We also spent Tuesday night stuffing hundreds of invitations that were mailed out on Wednesday. If I do say so myself... they turned out awesome!! I was so happy with the results but never want to print from ProDigital again.

Wednesday was devoted to school, but on Thursday we were back to running around finding candy, ribbon, picking out a cake and presents for my bridal shower hosts.

Friday Austin, my mom & I ran around to different distribution centers getting me all ready for the temple :D After getting all my stuff I am sooo excited to be going through the temple in a week. I know it will be a very special day. Once we had everything we needed we were off to Logan for the weekend.

Saturday was the big day, my family bridal shower! It was so fun seeing everyone that I hadn't seen since the 4th of July and getting marriage advice from them all. My Aunt Lorie bought me a little book that she passed around and had everyone write down marriage advice.

Here are some pictures from the party...

2 Generations: Grandma Annie, Mom & Me!
The bedding I wanted from Target, Thanks Mom! And can't forget the decorative pillow!
My Aunt Christine (who had to work and couldn't make it to the party) sewed these awesome dish towels. I absolutely love them!
It's a horrible pictures but I had to show off these amazing candlestick holders that my mom surprised me with. I had eyed them while I was home for Thanksgiving and she found some for me to have so I didn't have to steal hers :D
Great Grandma Timpson, Grandma Wendy, Me & Mom - I was happy they made it
My Aunt Jenny who is basically my Utah mother. She is awesome and got me the cutest brown & pink polkadot apron along with a blender and measuring cups!
The wonderful hosts of the party, Jenny, Grandma & Lorie

Sunday we were back down for SLC for the morning session of conference. My mom had never been to conference so it was exciting to go with her along with Austin & his grandparents who live in SLC. After conference we headed to the Horsley's for a nice easter dinner and an enjoyable rest of conference. It was so nice to hear from the leaders of the church and the council they gave on families. Where Austin & I are about to start our own family, it really put into perspective the things we need to be preparing for. It also made me excited to start a family of my own :)

Overall it was a CrAzY busy weekend but we accomplished sooo much! As I mentioned earlier we had to reschedule our bridals for another day, well tomorrow is that day and guess what.... it's snowing!! surprise, surprise. I think sometimes the Lord has an interesting sense of humor. Oh well.... I guess we will make the best out of a snowy situation.

Also, while we were up in Logan, Austin's sister-in-law Nell had been told from the doctor that she would most likely have her baby over the weekend. Well after a few false alarms, she gave birth to Brooklyn Diane Horrocks at midnight on Sunday! That means I have another soon-to-be niece :D
