Dilyn!!

I've been wanting to blog about this story for some time now but first I need a picture of Dilyn (or Dillon as Austin likes to spell it...)

So Austin got a bike a few months back and had started riding his bike to school instead of driving. Well one day Austin comes home and tells me this story... he tells me that as he was riding his bike to school in the middle of the sidewalk is this duck that was in his way. Being the kind person that he is he didn't want to run over the duck so he figured he would ask him to move. But you can't just ask a duck to move because as Austin told me, they don't speak English they speak duck hahah (Austin is really good at making animal noises, especially duck noises haha I told him that when the time comes to teach our children animal sounds he will have to do that cause mine all sound the same... like a dying cow haha) anyways as Austin is riding closer he quacks at the duck to let him know he needs to get out of the way! The duck moved and Austin saved his life. Little did he know that there was another person sitting there watching him this whole time and heard him quack at the duck hahahah
Ever since then Austin named that duck Dilyn. We talk about him all the time especially when Austin sees him on campus. So that is the story of Dilyn the Duck :D

One Year Down!!

Austin made it through his first year of med school!!! Hallelujah!! I am so proud of all he has accomplished this year. He really has worked his butt off to get the grades he deserves. When he came home from his last final on Friday I had made a little banner to put on the door :D
 It said "Congrats"
I was going to make a big one to put in the house but Austin doesn't like when I use all the ink from our printer haha so I settled with this little one! Once he got home from school we threw on our swimsuits and headed out to the pool. Laying out at the pool is so much more enjoyable when you have someone to lay out with.

After a few hours by the pool we got all cleaned up and ready for dinner. We headed to our favorite restaurant.... the one we always seem to talk about on this blog... ON THE BORDER!! Woop Woop! We had planned a few weeks ago that we would go out and celebrate with all of our friends. It was so fun getting together and enjoying a night out. A lot of our friends had never been to On The Border so they finally got to experience the awesomeness that we love haha
 Cheese!
The day before some of the girls had got together and made cupcakes for the boys :) The banner on top said "congrats" on one side and "one down" on the other side.
After dinner we were suppose to go play games at a The Simpson's house but Austin was so exhausted he crashed early. He told me the next day that he was probably so tired because this was the first time his brain knew that he was actually done haha I don't blame him for being so tired!!

Now that Austin is done with school all the things we have planned for this summer seem a lot more real! I have already decided this is going to be the best summer ever! It better be seeing as this is our last summer to do whatever we want. Next summer Austin will be an "adult" and have to start rotations... but that is no concern right now so I say, bring on the fun!!

Deviation from the Norm.

Yesterday was seriously one of the best days! It's not like I did anything that fantastic but it was just not a normal day for me and I loved it! It started out with me going to the gym with Austin. For anyone that knows me well... I don't like the gym but Austin has been making me go do the elliptical with him. After our little gym date I threw on my swim suit and headed over to the pool. Yesterday was so awesome because instead of it being 90+ degrees it was like 75 and breezy.... I actually prefer laying out when it is cooler because it makes laying out for long periods of time a little more bearable but you are still able to get a tan (or in my case tan arms and legs but a sunburned nose and forehead...) After the pool I was hanging out around the house when Austin came to me and asked if I would be up for going over and shooting hoops at his school. I was totally up for spending time with my husband and getting out of the house! On our walk over to the school I was hoping I would get to meet Dilyn the Duck. Now you might be asking... who is this Dilyn? Well once I get a picture of him I will let you know ;) Unfortunately he was not at his usual pond.. I was so bummed out!! While shooting hoops I was able to sneak a few shots of Austin :D I knew that if he saw me taking pictures he would stop playing basketball so I was quite sneaking taking these pictures.
I love that I wasn't even trying when I was taking these pictures and I kept getting him in action shots! haha I could tell that him taking a few minutes out of his busy day to shoot some hoops really helped him de-stress. Only 10 more days to go!!

Then last night for FHE we played a game of Phase 10... I am really starting to hate that game. We bought it a couple weeks ago and every time we play it Austin wins... I get so mad because I start off really good and then in the end he beats me. Unfortunately I got the competitive gene from my parents who can't play board games together because they end up in a family fight so when Austin wins I kind of get a little crabby.... but that's ok. I am determined to beat him one of these days...

So that was basically our day yesterday.. like I said it wasn't anything spectacular but for me it was just awesome hanging out with my husband and getting out of the house to doing things I don't normally do :D

Long Week (equals) Fun Date Night

Man oh man it has been a long week! Since my manager quit I had to work every day this week. I didn't realize that going from working like 3 days a week to working everyday can make me feel so burnt out. Austin is pretty burnt out too... By the time he finishes this last semester he will have 70+ hours of school credit under his belt! He has been working so hard and he only has two weeks left!! Hallelujah!

Since we both had such long weeks we decided we needed a good date night so we went out and celebrated Cinco de Mayo (a day late) at our favorite place to eat.... On The Border!! Woop woop! We hadn't been there since March when Austin's family came out to visit and as luck would have it we had the exact same waiter! He remembered us an everything haha You know you have become a regular when the waiters start to remember you... haha After that wonderful dinner Austin wanted to make it back in time to watch the Lakers/Mavs game. Normally I would start complaining because I'm not a huge basketball person, but I found this new blog called The Dating Divas and they had this cute idea for a basketball date night. So I took some ideas from them and we had fun watching the game :D It also helped that I hate the Lakers and have invested interest in the Mavs being from Dallas and all...

At half time we had a dunking contest with these bad boys...
Not gonna lie I'm pretty good when it comes to dunking Oreos haha
Another one of the ideas was to have a kissing cam and every time someone made a three point shot you would have to kiss. It worked pretty well for the first quarter but then I became a little too invested in the game and forgot about our kissing cam haha And to make the night even better the Mavericks won!! Woop Woop! I told Austin that in the end it is going to be a showdown between the Mavs and the Heat and then it will be history all over again except this time the Mavs are gonna win it all!! hahah Only time will tell...

So Long, Farewell...

Last week we found out that our manager Kaylee would be leaving us and moving back to Idaho! We were all really sad so Jessica (one of the shift leads) decided to host a going away party at her house. I love that I am friends with my co-workers not only at work but outside of work as well. We all brought things and had a little barbecue. I was seriously impressed by Jessica's barbecuing skills! In this house that is Austin's job... haha
After we ate we decided to work off those calories with a little dance party! Jessica has one of those Kinects for their Xbox. I have seen them played before but never played one myself. It was so much fun! We couldn't stop laughing at how "great" we were at trying to dance to hip hop songs hahha

Jessica & Kaylee battling it out!
Lean with it rock with it haha
Brooke and me doing the Soulja Boy dance. Not gonna lie we were pretty good at it haha
Even though I stayed up way past my bed time (I didn't get home till 1:15am!) It was such a fun night! I was telling Brooke on the drive home I think the last time I stayed up that late was in college hahah But we are really gonna miss having Kaylee as our manager. She has seriously been the best manager I have ever had. So long Kaylee! You will be greatly missed :(
