A Week With Mom

Wow. If this is what life is going to be like until the wedding, then I better get use to my head spinning 24/7.

On Tuesday my mom flew in for the week. I was so excited to have her come help with all the final wedding touches. Austin & I were scheduled to take bridals that day but as luck would have it, a nasty dust storm blew in causing a haze to set over the Utah Valley... so we rescheduled our pictures. Instead I spent the day running around Salt Lake City trying to find one more bridesmaid dress, shoes for the bridesmaids and get the key to my cousins house. Let me just say, the shoes we found are amazing! I want to own a pair myself... guess I will just have to steal my sisters once the wedding is over ;D

We also spent Tuesday night stuffing hundreds of invitations that were mailed out on Wednesday. If I do say so myself... they turned out awesome!! I was so happy with the results but never want to print from ProDigital again.

Wednesday was devoted to school, but on Thursday we were back to running around finding candy, ribbon, picking out a cake and presents for my bridal shower hosts.

Friday Austin, my mom & I ran around to different distribution centers getting me all ready for the temple :D After getting all my stuff I am sooo excited to be going through the temple in a week. I know it will be a very special day. Once we had everything we needed we were off to Logan for the weekend.

Saturday was the big day, my family bridal shower! It was so fun seeing everyone that I hadn't seen since the 4th of July and getting marriage advice from them all. My Aunt Lorie bought me a little book that she passed around and had everyone write down marriage advice.

Here are some pictures from the party...

2 Generations: Grandma Annie, Mom & Me!
The bedding I wanted from Target, Thanks Mom! And can't forget the decorative pillow!
My Aunt Christine (who had to work and couldn't make it to the party) sewed these awesome dish towels. I absolutely love them!
It's a horrible pictures but I had to show off these amazing candlestick holders that my mom surprised me with. I had eyed them while I was home for Thanksgiving and she found some for me to have so I didn't have to steal hers :D
Great Grandma Timpson, Grandma Wendy, Me & Mom - I was happy they made it
My Aunt Jenny who is basically my Utah mother. She is awesome and got me the cutest brown & pink polkadot apron along with a blender and measuring cups!
The wonderful hosts of the party, Jenny, Grandma & Lorie

Sunday we were back down for SLC for the morning session of conference. My mom had never been to conference so it was exciting to go with her along with Austin & his grandparents who live in SLC. After conference we headed to the Horsley's for a nice easter dinner and an enjoyable rest of conference. It was so nice to hear from the leaders of the church and the council they gave on families. Where Austin & I are about to start our own family, it really put into perspective the things we need to be preparing for. It also made me excited to start a family of my own :)

Overall it was a CrAzY busy weekend but we accomplished sooo much! As I mentioned earlier we had to reschedule our bridals for another day, well tomorrow is that day and guess what.... it's snowing!! surprise, surprise. I think sometimes the Lord has an interesting sense of humor. Oh well.... I guess we will make the best out of a snowy situation.

Also, while we were up in Logan, Austin's sister-in-law Nell had been told from the doctor that she would most likely have her baby over the weekend. Well after a few false alarms, she gave birth to Brooklyn Diane Horrocks at midnight on Sunday! That means I have another soon-to-be niece :D

Stir Crazy

Sunday's make me stir crazy. I don't know if it's cause I spend all day in doors but after annoying Austin and Madison I figured I would rechannel some of my pent up energy on the blog.

Humm I haven't written on here in a while... I guess I could go over what happened this week.

- Austin and I have been stressing out trying to compile all the addresses needed to send out invitations. I think of all the wedding things we've had to do, this has been the biggest pain in the butt. Thank goodness it's almost over...
- Speaking of invitations, we finally have them ordered! They will be ready Monday and hopefully sent out Tuesday!
- Tuesday we are taking bridals so we have been trying to get everything ready for that day. I got my wedding dress back from being altered, Austin finally found a tie he likes, I decided to wear brown cowboy boots since I couldn't get pink cowboy boots in time, and all the other minor details needed to make us look good :D
- I had a humanities paper due Friday that I kept putting off... I must say it was probably the worst paper I have ever written. Senioritis is definitely setting in.
- I'm all registered for my internship!! After hearing how hard it was to get an internship approved I was kind of nervous, but mine was approved the day after I turned in the paperwork.
- Austin finished the Book of Mormon last week while at work. He beat me in our goal to finish the Book of Mormon before our wedding.
- Austin's dad bought us a mattress!
- Wednesday was our one month until the wedding!! After 8 months of being engaged I can't believe the wedding is almost here. I never thought the day would come....

Well that is all I've come up with right now. My mom comes this week and we have a billion, kagillion things going on so next time I write, there will be lots to talk about :D

FINALLY!!

I am happy to report that after living in Utah for 3 years I have finally found a good Mexican restaurant! When I first moved out here for school and realized there was no On The Border I was devastated. I didn’t know how I was going to survive my time at BYU with no good Mexican food! I searched the Utah valley trying to find a good Mexican restaurant with no luck.

See the problem is there are different variations in Mexican food. There is the true Mexican like Los Hermanos that is very bland and boring. Then we have the wanna be Mexican food like Cafe Rio that might as well be categorized with Taco Bell in fake Mexican. Then we have TexMex. Oh yummy TexMex. It is a combination of just enough Mexican and Texas to give you satisfying restaurants like On The Border and Posados which seem to be only found in the South, until now...

Rubio’s opened up in Provo about a month ago. I had seen the restaurant in SLC but never had success in getting Austin to take me. Well last night I was victorious and Ausitn & I went to try it out. My mother always says, you know a good TexMex restaurant by the quality of their salsa. She was right. The salsa was amazing, the burrito was stupendous and I was pleased to find, after 3 years of searching, a Mexican restaurant that reminds me of home.

It’s too bad I found it my last semester at BYU! Oh well...

Spring is in the air!

What a fun week! On Thursday night Austin & I went on a double date with my roommate Kaylee and Austin’s friend Spencer. We went to the always fun Color Me Mine where you pick out your own pottery and paint it! Last time we went, Austin & I painted a cookie jar that has definitely been put to good use this past year. This time we decided to make coasters for the new house. We started off painting them the colors of our living room (greens, reds, and browns) but with the last coaster Austin wanted to do a little something special. Kaylee painted a really cute mug and Spencer made himself a “special” cereal bowl. It was fun to get out for the night and spend time with friends. Once we get the finished product on Tuesday I will make sure to post pictures :D

Friday we had to take my dress to be altered. On the drive up to Salt Lake we received some exciting news! My cousin sells security systems over the summer and will be gone till September. He generously offered to let Austin and me stay in his house for the summer! We couldn’t be more excited! After many stressful nights trying to apartment search, we have finally found a place to live and even better than that, it is free! This was definitely an answer to many many prayers. So until we move to Arizona in July, we will be living in Draper for the summer. Of course to celebrate the good news, we treated ourselves to some Red Lobsta using the gift cards I got for my birthday.

Saturday was my bridal shower :D Helen, Madison and I drove up to Teri’s house for the party. There was a surprising turn out. I really appreciated all the love and support I felt at the party. It was fun to retell my story of meeting Austin, our proposal and then getting lots of great recipes and wedding advice from the group.

Ashley's friend Tracy made these adorable cookies for the party!

The beautiful table setting. Spring is in the air!

Helen & me

Opening some presents :D

Helen gave us a nice, warm blanket to replace the Snuggie

Grandma Nita gave us a cookbook, kitchen scrubber and recipe box

Teri, who was nice enough to host the party, gave us a kitchen stuff

Ashley, my soon to be sister-in-law, gave us a Pier One gift card (I have been wanting some ruffled pillows that Austin didn't find necessary, now I have an excuse to go get them!)

The cute family sign Teri's daughter Jessi gave us

This was Austin's favorite, a new griddle from Sheila and Sam

Laura gave us a recipe holder and gave me a way to entertain myself while Austin is away studying, a cupcake decorating cookbook.

Nell gave us a cutting board and more matching kitchen stuff

The rest of the day was spent going to different Nordstoms Racks trying to find groomsmen pants (we had a minor set back at one when Austin locked his keys in the car), playing games at Austin’s grandparents house (I won $5.00 thanks to Grandpa’s prizes) and finally attended the reception of Austin’s old friend. It was a long, but eventful day.

Life in the Fast Lane

As I was reading through some of the old blog posts, I realized I have some updating to do. I have been so busy with school I haven't really had time to write a post of what's happening. First of all… I got my wedding dress! It was a complete shock seeing as I didn’t think it would be here for another 2 weeks! Well yesterday I got a call from Gateway Bridal and Prom saying my dress was ready to be picked up. I was literally jumping around my room I was so excited. After much anticipation I jumped in my car and headed up to Salt Lake to pick it up. While I am tempted to put picture of it on the blog, I will refrain until Austin and I have our bridals taken at the end of the month, but lets just say… I am in love.

Also this past week, Austin and I have been apartment hunting. Not going to lie… it sucks. I didn’t think finding an apartment over the summer would be so hard. I guess married people don’t go away for the summer like over half of the single people do. We spend our nights searching Craig’s List for the perfect place, send out mass e-mails and have only had two successes so far. On Saturday we visited lovely Wymount housing. Lets just say, it needs a little updating. Tonight we visited some housing in south Provo that we were not impressed with. Now we aren’t expecting the Taj Mahal, but so far we haven’t found that place that just feels like home to us. I guess we will continue out search…

Austin has started filling out his student loan papers. Talk about depressing. We just keeping telling ourselves… you’ve got to spend money to make it. If only we were spending money we actually had haha. We also got a glimpse at his book list for the first year… 28 books. I don’t think I have bought 28 books in the 3 years I’ve attended BYU but he is excited so I am excited too :D

As for me, I got an internship for the summer! I will be working with a company called Rain who specializes in digital media and advertising. I am so excited to start applying all the things I have learned, but at the same time I am a little nervous to be taking on the real world. Also I have a bridal shower coming up this weekend being hosted by my soon to be family. I am so excited and grateful for Austin’s family and they love they have shown me. I’m sure I will have lots of pictures from the shower for the next post.

Well that is life right now. Still counting down the days :D

xoxo.

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun

I ask you... how can the weather in Provo go from this...
To this...

In a matter of hours? The past few days it has been so wonderful waking up to the sunshine streaming through the blinds, and not having to walk around with a big winter coat. Austin and I have been discussing that we are definitely more happy when it is sunny outside. Now I'm not saying I have seasonal depression, but who isn't happier when it is warm and sunny outside, not cold a dreary....

Thus I have come to the conclusion that Arizona is the place for me! I cannot wait to move with my soon to be hubby down to sunny Arizona were the sun is always shining and the weather is always warm. I don't think we could have asked for a better place to start our marriage.

Yes this is where we will be living for the next four years of our lives. San Prado in Glendale Arizona. You can just photoshop me into one of those pool chairs cause lets face it... that's where you'll find me :D

Is it July yet?!
