Extra! Extra!

So last week some reporters from the newspaper came to DownEast to do a little write up about our new store! While I was going about my duties they thought it necessary to get a few pictures of me. I felt so awkward knowing someone is taking my picture but also knowing I'm not allowed to smile or look at them but just continue working as if nothing was taking place.

Well the article was published and since that time I have had a few people who would see me working and ask "Where you the one in the newspaper?". I unfortunately don't get the newspaper and had not see the article so I was surprise to find they had used my picture for the article. I tired finding it online and even asked a friend if she had seen it in her newspaper but no luck. That all changed yesterday when a woman came in, saw me and once again asked if I was the one from the newspaper. I started to explain that I probably was but that I had not seen the paper. She then proceeded to pull out a newspaper from her purse with me on the front page! haha She was nice enough to give me the newspaper so that I could share it with my coworkers.

So there it is. hahah So awkward but kind of cool! This is the second time in my life that I have been in the newspaper, and not just a little blurb but a full color picture of me. Good times :D

Lets get physical, physical!

Tonight Austin is going to a homeless shelter in Phoenix to help give physicals to those in need. This will be his first time actually performing a physical so it will give him good practice and will give those who can't afford to go see a doctor the opportunity to get checked up on. He was also excited because apparently tonight was pediatrics so not only will he be doing physicals but he will get to help out kids and if you know Austin at all he loves helping little kids :D

Look at how legit he looks! He was so excited to finally use all the medical equipment he bought including his Littmann Stethoscope. Although the scrubs they gave him are a little big haha he still rocks them!

Time to check the eyes!

What a great husband I have! :D

Just another Sunday night...

Ok so I thought I would document a typical Sunday afternoon for us. It basically consists of this, Austin spending his nights studying while I sit on the couch bored out of my mind! And because I'm so bored I usually make a treat not cause I'm hungry and want to eat it but just so I have something to do.

This is Austin when he is "in the zone"

He caught me taking pictures! I am always sneaking up on him while he is studying :D

After enough bugging he finally gave up studying to help me decorate some cupcakes. Remember how I was so excited to make our pumpkin cake? Well we decided not to do the pumpkin cake seeing as it would be the two of us eating a huge pumpkin bundt cake. Instead I came up with the brilliant idea to decorate mini pumpkins using cupcakes... they didn't turn out to great. They started looking like babies instead of pumpkins so I gave up and just decorated the rest using the sprinkles.

Austin thinks it is funny to hurry and take a picture of me before I'm ready....

Now I'm ready :)

I'm thinking we are gonna have to share these cupcakes with our friends so we don't end up eating all of them.. again... haha

Life in General

So my sister Jessica told me the other day that I really needed to update my blog haha She is totally right... I have been slacking! But to be fair I have been working a lot and I just don't like to update my blog if I don't have pictures to add cause lets face it, looking at pictures is the best part! Still here is a little update on our lives.

I am now working at DownEast almost everyday and to be honest I am loving it! All except for the fact that I seem to be the one employee with the worst luck... First I get secret shopped by some people who were not very nice, then I had some lady pay me with a fake $100! I just don't understand why I keep getting the crazies and no one else seems to have a problem but they haven't fired me yet so I think I'm ok :D Also, Austin has to keep reminding me that I am not allowed to spend all of my hard earned money on clothes and that we are saving up to get a TV for Christmas haha
(Our store at the Arrowhead Mall)

Austin is still rocking medical school! Unfortunately he has a little bit of a cold right now but that is not stopping him one bit. He still continues to study hard and pull off some amazing grades. We can't believe that finals are just around the corner which means he is almost done with his first med school semester! I feel like the time has just flown by. Austin also had to put in his bid for where he wanted to go his third year and we luckily were able to stay right here in West Phoenix! We really didn't want to have to move and we really like the area we are in so it all worked out for the best :)

We have also had some surprise visitors this past month. First Derryl and Terri, Austin's Aunt and Uncle, came down and we were able to meet up with them and have dinner at an awesome pizza place called Oreganos. It was so fun catching up and seeing some familiar faces. Then this week we were really surprised to hear Bryan and Jenny, my Aunt and Uncle, were in the area for a few days! They were able to come see our place and we also went out to eat with them one night. I couldn't believe how big their baby Talmage was getting! Last time I saw him he was just a newborn. It kind of made me sad to think we don't live close anymore and we don't get to see all our family grow up like we use to.... I guess that is just another one of those sacrifices we have to make.
(Not the best picture but us out to eat with Bryan and Jenny)

So that is what our month has consisted of. Oh and our month has also consisted of eating our weight in sweets and treats haha Ever since we moved down here I have had more time to cook and bake. Well I see all these cute and delicious recipes online that I constantly have to try which means we are constantly eating cookies or cupcakes or some other treat. Probably not the best for our bodies but they are so fun to make! Like a few weeks ago I tried making cookie dough cupcakes. They were great except for the icing, that didn't really turn out....
(That's cookie dough in the middle of the cupcake)

Overall it has been a great month. We are so excited for the holidays coming up which means lots more pictures and lots more blog posts!

White Coat Ceremony

Yay for October! As you can see I am getting into the sprit of things by changing up the blog. I figured since I can't go all out in my apartment I would on the blog. Although I did purchase my first pumpkins the other day :) That will be the extent of our holiday decorations haha
And since it is October that means I can once again make my pumpkin cake! haha

On Friday Austin received his white coat. They held a ceremony at the school for all the first years from the different colleges. Austin didn't really want to go but I think he actually enjoyed it after it was all said and done. As I saw him in his white coat and with all his friends I couldn't believe how legit they looked! haha Here are a few pictures from the ceremony.

Our good friends Josh, Bonnie and their cute baby Madison :) They are awesome!
 Waiting in line...
About to put on the coat! (He is the guy on the right by the way)
 It's official!
Some of his med school buddies Tyler and Josh.
 After the ceremony.

As I side note I finally found myself a job!  I will be working at Downeast Basics as a "Lead Shift Lead" haha basically working as an assistant manager. I love the girls working there and was even able to get my friend a job there so it should be fun! Plus I will finally have an excuse to get some new clothes ;D
