Home is where the heart is

Alright, I am finally ready to put up pictures of our new home. After many nights of measuring, hammering, drilling and hanging....

Along with daily trips to Target... (As a side note- I had always wanted to go somewhere and buy so much stuff that I had to use two shopping carts for it all)

We finally have our first place! It's far from finished but that's ok :D It's been fun finally putting together all the things I've collected over the years. Here it is!

Right when you walk in the door there is a wall and this is what you see :)
To the right of the entry way is our living room. It still needs some work but so far so good I think!
Off of the living room is the master bedroom and master bath (aka Austin's bathroom)
On the other side of the apartment or to the left of the entry way is the dinning room/kitchen. Right now the dining room is full of boxes so I skipped over that room. We are hoping to get a dining room table next week so I will post pictures once we get that all set up :)
Off the kitchen/dining room we have the guest bedroom and bathroom aka my bathroom (figured since we have two bathrooms we might as well use them, and I didn't like the idea of sharing a sink with Austin haha)
The guest bedroom is more like Austin's little study room where he will be living for the next two years of his life.

So that's it for now! It was kind of hard to take good pictures since there are a lot of corners and not a lot of open space but we love it here and can't wait to continue making this little apartment our home :D

Monsoon?!

Austin and I experienced our first monsoon today. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy it from the comfort of our home but stranded at Wal-Mart. As we were checking out we could hear the rain falling down but didn't realize how bad it was until we got to the doors and saw everyone crowed around the shopping carts trying to wait it out. As we were waiting we saw a guy drive by on his motorcycle, talk about bad timing...

We finally decided to just brave it and this was our drive on the way home.

Now Austin and I have experienced bad rain storms before being from Illinois and Texas but never flooding like this. It was insane!! I have no idea how the baby bug made it home. It must have felt like a sailboat instead of a car. As Austin put it, he felt like he was driving the U.S.S VW Bug haha good times in Arizona!

On the road again

Wow it's been a long time! We finally got internet yesterday so now I can get back to blogging. So we finally made the big move! It was a long, stressful week packing, moving, driving, moving and unpacking but we did it. Thanks to my dad coming out and helping we were able to get moved in a lot faster and it was great to just see him. Here are a few pics from the move.

Austin got to use his Dewalt for the first time taking apart the bed! He was pretty excited about it. This move has definitely given him lots of reasons to use the drill gun.

Austin also did an awesome job of packing and driving the Uhaul. When we got to Arizona nothing had moved/broke. Wade would be proud :D

This was the view I got to stare at for 2 days....

And here is our apartment complex!! This is just a sneak peek. Pictures will come soon of the apartment once it is all decorated and put together.

Overall we really like Arizona. It is hotter than heck but it seems like a really nice area and the ward is great. We are so excited to get all settled in here :D

Mail!!

I don't know why but I love getting mail! I know this will soon change as bills start coming in but for now I love it.

Yesterday was a great mail day! First we got a package from my family. They got to party it up in Florida while Austin and I worked away our summer... but they were nice enough to get us a few gifts while there :D

This is my absolute favorite! They found Austin a Hulk shirt at Universal Studios! The best part is the shirt even had built in abs haha
With the opening of the new Harry Potter exhibit they knew they had to get me a Harry Potter shirt. Love!

Then Austin got his welcome package from Midwestern!!

He was so excited to see his name on the school list, read all about orientation week and get a "Big Brother" down there (who happens to also be LDS).

Everyday the move to Arizona becomes a little more real. I am so excited for Austin. He has worked so hard for this and is so excited to get started. Yay!

High's & Low's

So far I feel this week has been a game of high and low. One minute everything is going according to plan and the next we are back down again. Here are just a few of the high's and low's so far.

High's
- Friday we went and floated the Provo river with Ashley and her friends. Now this one could be classified as both a high and low haha. It started out great, the water was a little cold but the sun was shining and we were all having a great time. Then the sun went down make it extremely cold, and Austin lots his flip flop after making us run into a tree branch causing our tubes to flip. But I still classify this as a high :D

- We found out Sunday that next Sunday we only have 2 hours of church for some unknown reason. And it was also Ashley's birthday so we had an amazing dinner at their Grandma Nita's place.

- I am officially finished with my internship and marriage prep class! I finished the internship Friday, did all the necessary requirements to make it count and turned everything in today. I also took my marriage prep final so that was the very last time I will ever take a test in the BYU Testing Center! One more class and that degree is mine!

Low's
- I have been having really bad headaches lately and I don't know why... and while we are on the subject of health Austin and I spent our Monday night FHE filing for health insurance. Biggest pain in the butt!

- Last night I was woken up to the smell of skunk in our house. I have no idea what happened but it literally smelled like there was a skunk in our bedroom. Sick!

- Today I went to Provo with Austin so I could take a test, turn in stuff and hang out with Miriam one last time. We took my car and for some reason Baby Bug decided she did not want the AC to work today. Needless to say it was a long, silent drive home with the windows rolled down. I'm praying this is not an ongoing problem and maybe just a one time thing.

Isn't that just the epitome of life, one minute everything is great and the next thing you know, life hands you a bag full of lemons. I guess you just have to keep your chin up and "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" :D

I Hate Goodbyes...

As excited as I am to move to Arizona, I hate the goodbye part of moving.

Last night Helen and Chase came over for dinner and to hang out one last time before we leave. We made them spaghetti and meatballs while they brought the good stuff, homemade peach cobbler and Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes! It was so fun catching up with them and hearing about their life and adventures.

It's crazy to think Helen and I have been friends since freshman year. We've had so many fun times together over the years :D I still remember that first week in the dorms not having any friends and crying the entire drive back to my dorm after my mom left. It was an answer to prayers when Helen saw me going into my room and asked me if I wanted to go eat at the Cannon Center. After that we were inseparable. I feel like Helen and I have lived the same life, we were single together, dating at the same time, broken up at the same time, engaged together and now we are both married women haha. She has been such a great friend along the way and I will truly miss one of my best friends. Of course I know this is one of those friendships that will last over the years. We will always stay in contact, even if it's over blogger haha.

Then today I had to say goodbye to all those I worked with over the summer. I wasn't suppose to end my internship till next Friday but plans change. It was fun getting to know everyone there and seeing all the amazing things Rain is working on. It was a great internship experience. They even threw me a going away ice cream party. They know me too well... I LOVE ice cream hahaha

As my friend Brittany always tells me, "It's not goodbye. That is too final. It's always see ya later." Great advice as we still have more "see ya later's" to come.

Happy Birthday!

Friday was the all day celebration of my wonderful husband's birthday! We figured we both need the day off to really celebrate :D The morning started off with a french toast breakfast.

I felt bad not getting Austin anything for his birthday but in all actuality he just wanted to spend the day shopping. So we got ready for the day and headed over to The Gateway mall. Thanks to all our family Austin was able to spend some serious cash and get some rockin outfits!

Isn't he such a cutie in his new clothes!?

We then hung out at home waiting for Jason, Nell and the girls to come down. Austin had picked Olive Garden (no surprise there) as his birthday dinner of choice.

For some reason they brought him out a Olive Garden mint with candle on it instead of a desert haha random, but funny. Also Austin hates these mints, kind of ironic. haha

After, we all went back to the house to chill and eat the cake I had baked Austin earlier that day. I know.. it looks like a 2 year old wrote it but in my defense, the frosting was too hot and came out in spurts.

Hootie in her cute chinese outfit Grandma & Grandpa bought her in China

Me and Brooklyn (aka Tootie) I love her! She is so cute! haha
Jason and Nell were obsessed with playing Angry Birds on my phone haha

The next day was the annual 4th of July Horrock's family breakfast. It was actually kind of sad because as we left we had to say goodbye to all of Austin's extended family. I hadn't realized that was probably the last time we will see them before our big move!

MaKayla and Me sticking our feet in the pool at the 4th of July breakfast!

Ashley volunteered to watch Makayla while Jason, Nell, Austin and I went to see Eclipse!! Needless to say, the boys weren't as thrilled to see the movie but were good sports about seeing it. The movie was definitely better than the second one but still just as cheesy as always.

We again had to say goodbye to Jason's family knowing we won't see them before the move. All these goodbye's really makes this move more of a reality. Luckily it wasn't as sad saying goodbye to them since they will be coming to visit us soon after we move to Arizona! That night we had planned on going to Sugar House Park with Ashley and Adam but plans changed and we ended up watching the fireworks from our front porch. It was a great weekend hanging out with family, celebrating the 4th and Austin's birthday.

So once again, Happy Birthday to my amazing husband. 24 years young ;D

And Happy Birthday America!
