Anniversary & Easter

Yay for an anniversary getaway! We really really needed the time away with school and work and all the other stresses of life it was so fun to just take a night off and spend it with each other. I even made sure that we didn't bring our computers because sometimes we get in this bad habit of sitting on the couch together but both being on our computers so it's like we aren't even really together. With that said... Friday afternoon we headed over to Scottsdale to celebrate our anniversary! My dad was really nice and helped us out by letting us use his points to stay in the JW Marriott Desert Ridge hotel. We checked in, dropped off our bags and on the way out guess who stopped by to wish us a happy anniversary.....
Spongebob! hahah
Austin told me after that really he was the one who called up spongebob and told him he needed to come see me on our anniversary weekend... so sweet :D So after that we went out to the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall for a few hours and then it was off to our dinner at Roaring Fork. When we got there they took us to our table this was waiting for us...
So cute! Austin said when he had called to make the reservation they had asked what we were celebrating but he didn't know they would do something special for us :)

Roaring Fork was awesome!! So funny story... Austin is a huge Dr.Pepper fan and I have been telling him about this Dublin Dr.Pepper which is like the real deal. It is made in Dublin, Texas and they use only real pure cane sugar in the drink. So every time we go to Texas I keep telling him how he needs to try this Dr.Pepper. Well at Roaring Fork he orders and Dr.Pepper and lo an behold... it is this Dublin kind. He took one sip and this big smile comes across his face haha he is like.. "This is the best Dr.Pepper I've ever had!" So the whole night he just takes little sips from it because he wants to savor what he has hahaah so funny. Well then he orders a filet minion and needless to say... I think Austin really enjoyed dinner. Probably more than I did haha I had salmon and it was also amazing!
For desert we ordered a chocolate cake thing and they brought it out with this writing on the side wishing us a happy anniversary. All and all everyone the whole night everyone was so nice to us and kept congratulating us. It was so fun :D
After dinner we headed back over to the hotel for the night. Here are some pictures (and sorry they are at night... I guess I should have thought to take them before we left for dinner)
The next morning we just lounged around before checking out and then hitting up McDonalds for breakfast. Overall I think I can say that this was the best anniversary to date ;D hahah

So Sunday was our actual anniversary and Easter. Since I just got a new computer that was basically our anniversary gift to each other. But I did make sure to tell the Easter bunny that he needed to visit our house...
Our attempt at an Easter picture....
And Austin hating me taking pictures haha but I wanted a picture of him with his new Easter tie!
So there you have it! A great anniversary and a wonderful Easter!

One Year.

One whole year as husband & wife.
I can not even believe it has been a whole year since our wedding day. I've always heard the first year of marriage is the hardest... well if those were the hard times then bring on the rest of our life! Sure we've been through a lot and learn little quirks about each other but I think we can both honestly say we are more in love today then we were this time last year. Hard to believe but so true. So here is to our first anniversary and many many more to come :D

I will post pics later from our anniversary weekend! Also Happy Easter!!

Childhood Memories

The other night Austin and I spent a few hours watching Austin's home videos as a kid. His dad has worked really hard to compile home videos and photos onto DVDs for all his kids. I thought it was a really great idea! I loved watching Austin as a kid! I mean I plan on spending the rest of my life with him so it is always fun to see what his life was like before he met me. All those years I missed while he was growing up in Litchfield, IL haha It was also really cool to watch because the whole time I sat there wondering what our home videos will be like in the future. It's crazy to think that in a few years we will be the ones creating memories for our kids. Although I am a little nervous to think our kids might take after their dad... he was kind of crazy as a kid hahah just kidding!!

So Much for Eating Healthy...

Kind of ironic that one posts later after writing about our healthy eating I am about to write about me eating a Little Caesars Pizza haha I told you I didn't know how long this health kick would last. So here is the real story... This past week I have been craving pizza like crazy!! I would come home from work at 9:00 and wish I had a pizza to eat. I would try to satisfy this craving with other things... things from our well stocked fridge but nothing worked. Finally after a week of suffering, I came home from my night shift Saturday and just couldn't take it anymore! I had to get a pizza to end these incessant cravings! So Austin accompanied me over to the local Little Caesars pizza place. I made it just in the nick of time. They were about to close in like two minutes but I got my hot and ready pizza plus some free crazy bread (they were trying to get rid of it before closing). As soon as I got home I walked in the door,  plopped down on the couch and bit into a slice of pizza. It was amazing!! Everything I had hoped and dreamed it would be. Ok maybe that is taking it too far but it was awesome and it did satisfy my craving. Austin thought it would be funny to make me look like a chunk and take pictures of me eating the pizza.
Cheese! haha No I did not eat that whole pizza. Just a few slices so I'm not a complete fatty.

Healthy Living.

So I kept telling myself everyday this week that I really needed to update my blog, but I just felt like there was nothing exciting to blog about! To be honest this week has kind of sucked... Austin had 3 tests this week. Yes you read that right 3! Usually he only has one on Mondays but it is kind of midterms right now so he had a test Monday, Wednesday and then today (Friday). Luckily he aced all of them so we can breath a little easier this weekend!!!! But none the less I have been a little husbandless this week. Anyways that was not the point of my blogging as you can see by the title of this blog.

So over the past few weeks I seriously felt like all I ate was sugar. Whenever I wanted a snack I would end up eating jelly beans, cake (yes we made a whole cake just for the heck of it and I ended up eating more than half of it), cinnamon rolls, Blue Bell ice cream.. you name it, I ate it. And as I was eating all this I just kept thinking to myself "this is so disgusting, I can't believe how much crap I am eating!" As a side note, when Austin and I started dating we got in the really bad habit of having a treat after dinner which is weird because neither of us was raised that way. Seriously the longer we have been together, the worse the habit has gotten. Well one night my friend Brooke was telling us girls about a website called wordofwisdomliving.com. She sent us the link and I decided we need to be eating healthier but with a husband like Austin, sometimes this is like pulling teeth (he doesn't really like anything healthy besides like... grapes :D) Now I'm not really an extremest when it comes to eating healthy but I figured I need to be eating a little less cake and a little more fruit. I tell Austin all the time that this is my philosophy in life...  there is unhealthy, then there is healthier, and then healthiest! Like for example we eat a lot pasta because it is the one thing we can both agree on so there is unhealthy, which it just normal pasta noodles, then there is healthier, which is like whole wheat noodles and then the healthiest would be cutting back on the amount of pasta we eat or not eating pasta all together. Anyways long story short, I went to the grocery store and stocked up on healthy things for us to snack on. I didn't buy any cookies or treats because I knew I would just end up eating those and in order to ween myself off that stuff I just can't have it in my house at all. So I just wanted to show a picture of what our fridge looked like this week...
I mean look at all that good stuff! Grapes, strawberries, carrots, some yogurts and apples.

I don't know how long we are going to be able to keep this up but I am really proud of all the good things I have eaten this week haha and do you like how I label the tupperware containers? Yeah that is because if I don't, Austin won't eat them. He told me once he has to be able to see the things in order to eat them so I made it easy. I put them up in front, washed them, cut them up, labeled them so all he has to do is eat them! hahah

And while we are on the topic of food I also wanted to show our cereal collection...
Is it unusual for two people to have 5 different cereal choices in their house at one time!! hahaha I can only imagine what it will be like when we have kids...
