I saw this video and I got a good laugh out of it. I told Austin that if I am being a grump during labor he can feel free to rap to me :)

Changes!
I was reading in one of my books that you should start documenting your pregnancy early so that you can see how much you change over the course of it. Even though people say I'm not showing too much right now, I feel like I am haha. I guess I'm just not use to gaining weight. I have a hard time judging how much weight I should/shouldn't be gaining right now. I find myself constantly judging how big I look compared to other people. It is a bad habit that I am trying to work on cause I know if I keep it up, I will drive myself crazy!
Overall pregnancy so far has been interesting... I guess I always imagined that when you get pregnant you might get sick, and then you gain some weight, and that is about it. Wrong! There are so many changes my body is going though that I would have never imagined! For instance, the fact that I am tired all the time!! I sleep in as long as I can in the mornings, and when I come home from work I just want to go to bed. It doesn't matter that I've slept for like 20 hours, it's just not enough! Or the fact that my adolescent acne is in full force again. Also I feel like I have to eat fiber, and drinking prune juice like a 90-year-old woman just so I can regulate myself (TMI? probably but it's true!). No one ever mentions the other side effects of pregnancy. Although, I think I would take all these changes any day over the morning sickness horror stories I hear. Yes I have to deal with the nausea somedays but no where near the extent that most women deal. It really has been a new, and fun journey so far! I know that this is where Austin & I are suppose to be in life right now, and it is reassuring as I deal with these changes. Next week we go for another doctor appointment, and get to hear the heart beat which is exciting! :D Until then...

Positive.
I guess it is finally time to start blogging about being pregnant! There were some big things that have been happening over the past two months that I really wanted to share on this blog, but knew I couldn't. What better way to start off the new year than to announce our pregnancy!
Monday night, November 28th Austin talked me into taking a pregnancy test. We waited the long five minute wait before checking, and what we saw was one solid pink line and another faint one. I didn't really know what this meant? I had been taking ovulation tests, and knew that they said unless there were two distinct pink lines it didn't mean anything. Well apparently a pregnancy test is a little different than that! Austin wanted to go that night and get another cheap test, but I was done with those dumb pink lines. I just wanted to know for sure. We headed up to Fry's to get one of those Clearblue tests. When we got back I took the test, and before I could get done washing my hands it popped up... pregnant. I squealed and told Austin to go look now! He did and after just stood there smiling. I guess it was true this time, we were going to be parents!
We decided that I should probably tell my mom just so that I had someone to talk to about this and ask questions to, but we weren't going to tell anyone else until Christmas. Yeah that lasted a whole two days. I told my mom the next day, but then Austin decided he had to tell his whole family. I think if I hadn't threatened him a few times he would have told the whole world that week! Instead he did a decent job keeping his poker face on haha. We made our first appointment for December 21st, and wanted to wait to surprise my sisters when they came out after Christmas. I guess this was the beginning of a long nine month journey for us!

Rewind.
Now I guess I will rewind a little bit and add some more things to the past month. It was a long three weeks waiting to go to the doctors! We were both so excited when that day came. I think we were more excited for the 21st than we were for the 25th! As we sat in the waiting room at the doctors office, we kept looking at the door every time it opened waiting to see someone we knew. The doctor I picked shares an office with the doctor that everyone around here goes to! We were sure with our luck, one of our pregnant friends would have an appointment that day too and see us waiting in there for our ultrasound. Luckily we saw no one! Austin said sitting in that waiting room felt like forever! I would agree with that. When we finally made it back to have our ultrasound done, we saw a small white dot on the screen. That was our baby!! It didn't look much like a baby though haha. The tech said we weren't as far along as we thought, only about six and a half weeks. I don't think I would have believed that was our baby until I saw the heart beating on the screen. Then it all became real! Austin was pointing out everything before the tech could even tell us! I guess all this med school is paying off haha.
The doctor confirmed that we were indeed pregnant, but wanted to see me back in two weeks to do another ultrasound. I was beyond excited, but still had a hard time believing this was real! He also moved back my due date to August 13th, 2012. Austin was really excited to hear this because that is the same day Cassie was born!! I know it is highly unlikely to have your baby on the actual due date, but the fact that our baby shares the same potential birthday with Cassie was really special news.
A couple of days later my family came out to visit. Like I said before, my parents already knew we were pregnant but my sisters didn't. We decided to wrap up the ultrasounds like a present, and have them open them up. I was so glad we waited to surprise them! Their reactions were priceless!
Two weeks later, it was back to the doctors office. Unfortunately this time Austin couldn't come with me. When I saw our little baby on the screen I couldn't believe how much had changed in two weeks! It actually looked like a baby and not just some dot on the screen! This time I was really freaking out inside because I was so happy and felt so blessed that this was real! The doctor said everything continued to look good and that we could start telling people if we wanted to :)
After that, we started telling extended family members and then our friends! For girls group, I made these baby cupcakes I found on Pinterest. I think they were pleasantly surprised to hear the news!
I am so glad the news is finally out! I didn't think we were going to be able to keep that secret much longer! Also, this last picture is for my sister Lexi. When we first told them we were pregnant, she said I needed to take a picture with a Prego sauce and then announce that I was pregnant that way! When I was at a store the other day I found a baby Prego sauce and took a picture with it! haha so there you go... I'm Prego!! haha

The initial reactions, trying to figure out what this meant...
They figured it out and were so excited!!
I can definitely say that both sides of the family were so excited for us! The whole time my family was here we just kept talking about it. Also, I am pretty sure everyone is hoping it's a boy. It would be the first boy grandchild on Austin's side, and the first boy ever on my side! Either way if it's a boy or a girl, we will be so excited and happy. Two weeks later, it was back to the doctors office. Unfortunately this time Austin couldn't come with me. I can't wait to see what the next seven months hold in store for us!! Starting tomorrow I will be 10 weeks along, and I know for sure there will be lots more posts documenting the progress :D

New Years
After my family left, Austin and I spent the last few days of 2011 moving to a new apartment! It was a unexpected move, but well worth it. We moved only a few feet away, but only having two days to plan was a little stressful. In the process I couldn't help but feel so grateful for all the friends Austin and I have made down here. We were able to make that move in two days with the help of his friends, and an awesome ward! The move actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, and to be honest I love our new place even though it is the exact same place, just a few feet bigger and a lot less smoky!
For New Years Eve Austin wanted to get out just for a few hours to relax. We took a trip over to BJ's for an awesome dinner, and then to see Sherlock Holmes for the second time (yes we liked it that much!)
Although we didn't make it to midnight, we did pop a little bubbly and think about all the changes coming in 2012. Here's to a new year!

One of my all time favorite restaurant desserts... pazookie!
Waiting at the movies
This next picture pretty much sums up how we spent the rest of the night hanging out at our old, empty apartment. We couldn't officially move into the new place until Jan 4th, because that was the soonest they could turn on the gas.Although we didn't make it to midnight, we did pop a little bubbly and think about all the changes coming in 2012. Texans in Arizona
My family made the long 17 hour drive all the way out to Arizona! I was so excited to take a few days off of work, and hang out with them. They got here late Monday night, but that didn't stop us from getting the party started!
The next day we started off our vacation with a little shopping. We had to hit up DownEast, and also get some new covers for our iphones! It was a fun day just hanging around Glendale. That night we tried to go over to Oregano's in Scottsdale, but when we arrived they said it was an hour & a half wait! Who would have thought on a Tuesday night the wait would be that long!? I was bummed so instead we went to Brio.
After dinner we headed over to the Mesa temple to look at the lights. We had never been before and while it was no Temple Square, we still had a good time :)
Wednesday was another fun day full of shopping at Scottsdale Square, and walking around Cabellas (that was more for the boys that the girls ;) That night we headed over to my parents all time favorite restaurant... Eddy V's! Austin had never been, but I think I can say he is a fan now. He got "the best steak of his life" there, so he was happy haha
Thursday was our last real day to hang out since the family was leaving early Friday morning. We mostly hung out around Glendale again, went to Midwestern, and saw the new Mission Impossible movie.
Austin thought he was pretty funny taking this picture of us vegging out! I think is describes each of our personalities very well! hahah Mom playing solitaire, me checking all my social networks, Dad watching sports, Jessica...well I don't know what she was doing haha, and Lexi always well aware when the cameras come out!
